Step 7

To ensure a thorough and deep clean, a further bleach application will be applied to ensure all excess algae and lichen is killed off! We will then give the driveway a final wash off and weed treatment.

Step 8

For Block Paved driveways, re-sanding is a key element to the structural integrity of the block. We will re-sand the entire area using only a premium quality kiln dried sand. A note to our customers is that this element of the process is usually carried out 2-3 days after the initial rotary clean. It is best practice to resand when the paving is dry as this will allow the sand grains to fall deep within the joints.

Sealing - Ultimate protection

For the ultimate driveway protection, our sealing service has proven to be very popular with many of our customers.

At Paving Shield we have researched into the general sealants available to the homeowner. In our experience some of these products are nothing more than water based surface varnishes; they can be expected to last no longer than 6 months at best.

Paving Shield will only use the highest quality industrial, tried and tested sealing materials available within the industry. Our sealants applied correctly can offer your driveway a very aesthetically pleasing look, accompanied by the reassurance of durability and integrity to provide years of service.

should i have my driveway or patio sealed?

If you have thought about having your driveway or patio sealed, it is important that you choose the correct type of sealant. Why you may ask? The simple answer is that specific sealants are designed to offer different results depending on which surfaces they are applied too. For example, a block paving driveway will require a different sealant than a pattern imprinted concrete driveway would need.

If you own a pattern imprinted concrete driveway, it is a necessity that you protect the area with a sealant on a timescale of 2 - 3years, to help decrease a reduction in the loss of structural integrity.

A word of warning! If the wrong sealant is applied to a pattern imprinted concrete surface, then it can be expected that the colour and structure of the surface can be change for ever, it should also be stressed that some sealants once applied, they cannot be removed with out causing significant damage to the existing surface.

Before and after sealant on the concrete

In the case of sealing block paving it should be recognised that, a sealant will help reduce weed infestation but its main objective is to strengthen the jointing sand between each block, thus resulting in the reduced likelihood of paving failure, on top of this it will certainly aesthetically enhance the colours in the block.
